CONFERENCE: SRI LANKA: One Year after the peace accord
//...Overall, Mr. Ram was very skeptical of the LTTE?s commitment to the peace process..... Col. R. Hariharan (Rtd.), who was formerly with MI and Head of Intelligence, IPKF, in his presentation, agreed with Mr Ram?s assertion that the LTTE was a Pol Potist regime and he added that they could be classified with the Al Qaeda and Hamas. From his perspective, he believes that the moment the Interim Administration comes, Eelam would have been achieved.// September 27, 2003

'Frontline' magazine, India 30 December 1985: Interview with Prabaharan (or Pirapaharan)

//Q: What is the LTTE's ideology? Unlike other organisations, the LTTE began as a military outfit and later acquired Marxist-Leninist leanings.//30 December 1985

For a person who vehmently supports China's interest over Tibet people's self-determination rights, Ram should know well that Pol Pot was an alleged Maoist rather than a (direct) Marist-Leninist. Or is it when we train one is Marxist-Leninist, and when one opposes us s/he becomes Polpotist?

New external Propaganda Strategy: The Government of Tibet in Exile
//Furthermore, in July 2000 China invited N. Ram, the editor of Frontline, a weekly published from the south Indian city of Chennai, for a week-long visit to Tibet. His regurgitation of Chinese communist propaganda was splashed over 36 pages of the September 15 edition. Unusually for a professional journalist, N. Ram makes his bias clear right from the first sentence. He describes himself as an "Indian ... who has no sympathy for the Dalai Lama's separatist, revanchist and backward-looking agenda(Frontline, September 15, 2000)."//

Surviving the Plots of RAW and Premadasa: Sachi Sri Kantha [24 November 2001] (pro-eelam website)
//"...In this context, I wish to provide excerpts from a published 1992 letter of mine, which was critical on the views of N.Ram, the Chennai busybody cum journalist. To quote,

??Regarding his current status on the Eelam issue, Ram has observed, ?Indian policy has become somewhat inert and inactive. So there is no question of my playing a role. Because I don?t play an independent role. It is part of a policy response.?

Ram uses words like ?policy?, ?assessment? and ?mistakes? euphemistically to hide the role initiated and played by the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), the Indian counterpart of CIA and KGB. If Ram had stated openly on the failure of the RAW to infiltrate the LTTE (rather than referring to it passively as ?For one thing they were not accessible?), and his relationship with the RAW, I would have admired his courage and conviction. His antagonism to the LTTE is understandable, if one separates the kernel from the chaff. LTTE was (and still is) the only Tamil militant group which the RAW personnel could not manipulate to dance according to the whims of the Indian policy mandarins?? [Tamil Times, October 15, 1992]

Now for psycoanalysis:-)
Wounded tiger or hidden dragon?
// N. Ram offers another intriguing angle. He suspects that Prabhakaran is suffering from an unidentified ailment and is no more in full control of his faculties. Says he, ??Maybe I?m wrong but that was my impression after watching him at the press conference. He certainly looked nervous but what was striking was that he seemed to be under Balasingham?s influence. He spoke so little, and haltingly at that. I?ve interviewed him many times. He may not be very articulate, but he used to be very fluent, quick, cracking jokes, completely at ease. All that?s gone.?? // NewInd Press - Sunday April 14, 2002
